About the Author
Dave Books is an award-winning writer and former editor of Montana Outdoors. He has followed his gun dogs through forests, fields, and marshes across the Midwest, Northwest, and Southwest for close to forty years. His stories have appeared in Pheasants Forever, Quail Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Sporting Classics, Gun Dog, and The Upland Almanac.

Excellent Upland Tales

Would strongly recommend this book to anyone that loves birds and dogs and the places they lead us...from Idaho to the AZ desert in search of birds with pointing dogs. To bad the author doesn't hunt with English setters! All kidding aside, this is a must have book in the upland library!!

A book for anyone with a love for the outdoors, dogs, and an interest in or a passion for bird hunting. Written with humour and sensitivity and full of tips for the bird hunter. The essay format makes it easy and fun reading.

Enjoyed this book very much. The straight forward writing is to the point and relaxing. I felt Mr. Books did a fine job of transporting you into the memories he made along the way through his times he shared in this book.
