About the Author
Nancy L. Coleman taught English, German, and Norwegian at a high school in Hamar, Norway, and is editor and translator of the English-Norwegian/Norwegian-English dictionary Password. Olav Veka is president of the Norwegian Name Association (Norsk namnelag) and the author of many reference works and textbooks on Norwegian language, literature, and names. He contributed the entries on Norwegian and Danish surnames to the Oxford Dictionary of American Family Names.

Scandinavian Names--the go-to book!

When we were expecting our children, we wanted to select from some Swedish names. I could not find any book for help. (But that was back in the day!) Now there are many resources for parents to help them choose a name for their child. This is NOT just another baby name book, but a history of Scandinavian names. Very interesting to read and help understand the background of the names - especially since I am Norwegian and Swedish.
