Gorgeous addition to any library

This biography of King George V is exactly all one could dream or desire of an old coffee table type book. It is well written, of course, not much depth, because the size is dedicated to photos and illustrations, both color and B&W. There are several volumes, if you can ever find them all. My favorites are of Queen Victoria and of King George VI. See my reviews.
These books have all the best going for them: a different royal biographer for each book, fantastic rare illustrations, text that is far more than mere filler. Many of the biographers have long and respected bibliographies to their names ... they know their stuff. These royal biographical delights remind me of the old Life/Time-Life science books.
If you love recent English history and are a "royalist" (here I stand and proudly), you must have this collection even if it must need be limited. You'll never find every one that was published, but you will cherish what you can get, as I do. What gorgeous additions to any and every library!

A series worth collecting.

This series of the Kings and Queens of England should be sold (or purchased) as a set, this is the third one that I have and they are a relaxing and enjoyable read.
Mr. Judd is an excellent writer and the photos help support the story.
After Edward VII, this monarch must have seemed like a genius, but the one thing that I have learned in an extensive reading of the Kings and Queens of England is that they all had their place in the building of that great Country. Sometimes, I don't know how they managed, but they certainly did.
My only complaints about the authors of these biographies, and it certainly applies more to the early monarchs then the later, is the lack of period maps and their assumption that I understand French or Latin.
